1LOOKING BACK AT 2017… and A REQUEST FOR YOUR SUPPORT
Dear Friends of Meaningful Movies Project,
This past year has brought challenges for the Meaningful Movies Project, but it has also provided reasons to be joyful and grateful. The most amazing thing has been the dedication of many volunteers to keep the program going after the death of Rick Turner, who was the creator, visionary, and spirit of the Meaningful Movies for 14 years. Rick’s “little project,” as he called it, has grown from one venue in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle into 20 venues around the state.
Each of the venues has screened on average 10 documentaries during 2017, with an average attendance of 50 people at each screening. A total of 200 screenings and 10,000 attendees! That’s a lot of “meaningful” viewing and community discussion over the year! We’ve also been fortunate to have had many dedicated filmmakers and representatives from social justice organizations participate in our events, providing valuable current information and insight on various topics.
We hope you were able to attend at least one, if not several, of our events and found them informative and stimulating, and we hope that you walked away from the evening with ideas of how you might become active (or more active) in helping your community become a better place.
We also hope as you think about the value that the Meaningful Movies Project has provided to you and your community, that you will consider making a donation to help keep this project going and growing over the next year and beyond…to ensure that we can continue our mission of education and advocacy to build positive and meaningful community.
Please make your tax-deductible donation via our website https://meaningfulmovies.org/donate/, or if you prefer, you can mail your check to: Meaningful Movies Project, 4110 Densmore Ave N, Seattle, WA, 98103.
With much gratitude and best wishes for the new year,
Your Meaningful Movies Project Team
