Welcome To Your New Meaningful Movies Project Website!

by May 25, 2015 4

At The Meaningful Movies Project, we’re extremely excited to present our brand new website and hope you’ll enjoy it.  It’s been a long time in the making and a lot of work.  The site is designed to evolve quickly, so check back often.  We’re also rolling out a new logo – an expression of our primary community building tools: social justice film combined with community conversation.

The new interactive features of the website provide substantially more information and convenience for our audiences.  Our homepage immediately gives you all the latest upcoming film events in all neighborhood groups, and is searchable by individual group, date, location or keyword.  There’s a news feed where you can keep up with what’s happening in the various Meaningful Movies neighborhoods, and a discussion section you can follow or chime in on – these on-line discussions are often extensions of the conversations following neighborhood screenings.

On our Calendar page, you can view the entire schedule for Meaningful Movies venues everywhere – and each event is hyperlinked to details. And with our interactive map, it’s easy to find a Meaningful Movies group near you.  This will expand as we grow and new groups form.

Our Info & Resources page will contain miscellaneous information, from study guides for films we’ve shown (or will show, so you can learn more about topics to get more out of our screenings and discussions), to great media sources and more.  This will grow substantially as time passes.

Our Library page lists more than 1,400 documentary films.  We encourage attendees to check out films and have their own mini-film events with neighbors in their living rooms.  We hope many will continue the community building process well beyond the regular venues.

A new operational side to the site is now accessible to neighborhood group organizers.  Each neighborhood group has its own page, where they can quickly and easily organize and post their own film/discussion events, and moderate extended on-line discussions around specific film screening events.  There’s a forum specifically dedicated to the exchange of information and problem solving with other groups.  And each group page can serve as that group’s own front page.  The design of this operational side will make it very easy for new groups to come on board and get running right away.

Sign up for our e-newsletter.  It’s low-impact (about one a week), lists the latest films at all the MM neighborhoods, along with occasional additional items of interest

And there’s a new ‘DONATE’ button.  The Meaningful Movies Project is the organizing arm of all the Meaningful Movies groups and provides both start-up and ongoing assistance for all neighborhood groups, from equipment loans to providing operational support.  We can continue supporting this only through the financial support of kind supporters like you.  Together we can all learn from one another, build truly meaningful community, and by doing so create a more peaceful and just world.

We welcome your comments and suggestions for changes and additions.  Please let us know how we can make this more responsive to your needs.

If you haven’t attended a Meaningful Movies event, we highly recommend it.  They are educational, covering many topics at a depth that isn’t found in the mainstream media. Meet and get to know your neighbors. We think you’ll find the experience unique and very rewarding, as well as lots of fun.

Thanks to the thousands of you who have helped build the Meaningful Movies community through the years.  And special thanks goes to Natasha Dworkin Communications for all their hard work, creativity and moral support while building this website!
