On Monday, April 3rd, Meaningful Movies Manager, Melinda Raebyne hosted an All Network Meeting to talk about a new partnership with the national PBS program, Point of View (POV). POV is America’s longest-running television program for independent films. Claire Epstein and Robert Salyer with the POV Engage team were present at the meeting and spoke to local Meaningful Movies groups from Washington State, California and Nevada, about the documentaries provided in the POV Community Network program. Like Meaningful Movies, POV believes in the power of film to engage communities in dialogue around the most important social issues of our time. Claire and Robert invited all of our local Meaningful Movies leaders to join the Community Network to gain access to POV’s award-winning films and digital projects and to screen those films without the need to pay screening fees. Meaningful Movies leaders learned that these POV films are not only free for our MMP groups to show, but that POV also provides discussion guides, standards-aligned lesson plans, reading lists and other resources to help shape the conversation and inspire action.
MMP Manager, Melinda Raebyne, has been working on national and local partnerships (such as this one with POV) to help provide exceptional films to our Meaningful Movies groups and to support the work that they do! Through these important partnerships the Meaningful Movies Project helps local groups to educate, inform, build community and inspire action around the most important issues of our time.
