Manager TEST Position for the Meaningful Movies Project (MMP) https://meaningfulmovies.org/

$30 – $35 an hour, DOE,  Half-time/Flexible Hours/Remote/Based in Washington State

Will work with board to fundraise for either a full-time position or add staff.

The Meaningful Movies Project is recruiting an energetic and passionate Manager who shares its values and aspirations to support our network of volunteer-run groups. We need a leader to work with the MMP board and advisors to help build the network’s capacity to organize, promote and sustain an impactful calendar of film events.

About Meaningful Movies Project

The Meaningful Movies Project (MMP) has been working to inform and inspire social advocacy for 19 years.  Volunteers across Washington State have organized local screenings and facilitated discussions in some 30 venues using hundreds of social justice films to engage and equip their growing communities of activists. Each local venue is autonomous and the volunteers produce successful events. But, MMP’s guidance, resources and its robust online presence are critical to that success.

With Covid, the network expanded its programs and participants online.  Going forward the Manager will help the venues get back to in-person events while sustaining the reach and impact of online and hybrid programs.

About Manager Position

The manager will have demonstrated an enthusiasm for the power of documentary for public knowledge and action. Documentary films can take on issues of critical importance, tell the stories, provide the evidence and testimony that drive public debate, and promote solutions to social problems.  MMP shows documentaries in order to shift public dialogue, equip activists for advocacy and movement building, and change government or corporate policies.

The manager will be one of the key representatives for our organization and will work with other nonprofits, filmmakers, activists, issue experts and donors who share our vision for a more just and peaceful world.  We require a leader who can articulate the strengths of the organization and its needs.

The Manager will work with the MMP Board, volunteer committees, and interns in these areas: film recommendations, social media, technology, partnerships, and fundraising. The manager will help MMP form pivotal partnerships that bring knowledge, networks and public trust.

Our new Manager will initially work half-time, but we want to increase the number of hours and/or add staff as we find new funding.

We also want to emphasize that the Meaningful Movies Project has a commitment to racial, gender, economic and social equity and will prioritize candidates who add diversity to the team.

Interested applicants should email a cover letter, resume, and 3 references to hiring@meaningfulmovies.org. Initial applications will be due on Mar 20, 2022. First interviews for finalists will be on Zoom.
