Giving Tuesday – Please support the Meaningful Movies Project!

A Year of Challenges and Important Work
It has been over a year since much of the country shut down because of Covid19. In part because of the pandemic, people have had to grapple with a new awareness that our political, legal and economic systems are often unjust and harm people who are most vulnerable. In this tumultuous time, Meaningful Movies events have helped educate and inform people about the challenges we face and also provide a space to learn from experts about solutions and ways to take action. Perhaps most important, our events have continued to give people opportunities to connect with others who care about peace and justice, and build community. It is a testament to the dedication of our Meaningful Movies volunteers and venue leaders that in the midst of the pandemic, in 2020, Meaningful Movies groups produced 79 online events that explored issues from gerrymandering to white supremacy, to climate change to the illegal and immoral separation of children from their families at our U.S. borders. Showcasing thoughtful documentaries about complex societal problems, our events served as catalysts for organizing, network-building and civic action. We need this more than ever.
Please support the Meaningful Movies Project. We are a heart-based organization and we abide by the principles of the gift economy which means that all events are free and open to the public and which also means that the Meaningful Movies Project hub organization does not charge a fee for the support and services that we provide to local Meaningful Movies Groups. We exist entirely on donations from people like you. We are building community and encouraging activism, one film and one conversation at a time. Please help us to continue this work.
