Meaning Movies Bellevue invites you to our April screening of the award-winning film, We Are Guardians, a story of deforestation in the Amazon that affects us all.

As the health of the Amazon teeters on the edge, will Brazil and the world take notice? We Are Guardians follows Indigenous forest guardian Marçal Guajajara and Indigenous leader Puyr Tembé as they risk their lives to protect their ancestral lands from relentless invasions and the devastation of centuries-old forests.
The film also highlights Valdir, an illegal logger trapped in a desperate struggle to make ends meet, who sees no other way than to continue cutting down the forests for his livelihood.

This powerful narrative is at the heart of We Are Guardians — a story of hope and resilience amidst an unfolding crisis. Through a tapestry of voices, this documentary provides a raw and intimate look into the lives of those closest to the Amazon, peeling back the layers of this critical situation.
