SUMMARY:Vigilantes Inc.
DESCRIPTION:Join Meaningful Movies Port Townsend and co-sponsors Indivisibl
e Port Townsend for our screening of Vigilantes Inc. You can join us eithe
r in person or online! Details below.\n\nIn Vigilantes Inc.\, Greg Palast
and his investigations team bust the most brazen\, racist attack on voting
rights yet.\n\nVigilantes Inc. centers on a terrible new threat this year
to the right to vote: "Vigilante" challenges by self-appointed vote-fraud
hunters\, not government officials\, who've are targeting well over one m
illion to challenge and block the counting of their ballots. Most suspicio
usly\, the vast majority of vigilante targets are young voters and voter o
f color.\n\nVigilantes Inc. features African-American career officer Maj.
Gamaliel Turner whose vote was challenged and blocked by a GOP official wh
o actually dresses up like vigilante Doc Holliday\, including loaded six-g
uns. The Major was challenged because he’d been temporarily assigned by
the military to a California base.\n\nHere's the statistic that should sca
re all defenders of democracy. Our early "ACLU" version of the film expose
d the 88 vigilantes\, challenging voters only in Georgia. Now\, the Trump-
sponsored group True the Vote has gone from 88 vigilantes to over 40\,000
"volunteers" in 43 states!\n\nAttend in person:Quimper Unitarian Universal
