Transhood
PRESENTED BY: Meaningful Movies in Los Gatos at Shir HadashTransgender youth today are at risk of being denied essential health care and subjected to other discriminatory practices. Eight states have proposed or enacted laws limiting the rights of transgender youth. These laws include limiting participation in school sports and access to medication and surgery. The film “Transhood” follows four children–beginning at ages four, seven, twelve, and fifteen, as they “redefine coming-of-age”. Over 5 years, the children and their families share the intimate realities of how gender fluidity is reshaping family life.
Watch the movie on your own and then join us via Zoom for a panel discussion about what it means to be transgender, and how we can support transgender individuals
in our homes, our places of worship and the broader community. The panel will include medical and community professionals who work with transgender individuals as well as families who will share their personal experience.
