SUMMARY:"The Vow From Hiroshima" - Virtual Screening & Panel Discussion
DESCRIPTION:This year marks the 75th anniversary of the horrific bombings o
f Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6 and 9\, 1945. "The Vow from Hiroshima
" is an award winning film which provides an intimate portrait of Setsuko
Thurlow\, a survivor of Hiroshima\, who has devoted her life to ridding th
e world of nuclear weapons. Her moving story is told through the lens of h
er growing friendship with a second generation survivor\, Mitchie Takeuchi
.\n\nSetsuko was miraculously pulled out of a fiery building after the bom
b was dropped and unable to save her other 27 classmates who were burned t
o death alive. That experience shaped her life forever and she endeavored
to keep a pledge she made to her friends - that no one should ever again e
xperience the same horrible fate.\n\n"The Vow from Hiroshima" reminds us a
ll that there is still so much we need to do in order to make sure an even
t of this horrific nature never occurs again. The 2017 Treaty on the Prohi
bition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) passed\, and 39 nations have signed and r
atified\, but we need 11 more until the nuclear ban treaty enters into for
 ce.\n\nRegister at  https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-vow-from-hiroshima-s
