Join Coppell High School’s Eco Club along with Meaningful Movies Project and Sierra Club at the Sustainability Summit Film Event. The event will be held in-person at the Coppell High School Auditorium in COPPELL, TEXAS.

This evening promises to provide the thought-provoking documentary The Story of Plastic, insightful discussions, and an opportunity to collectively explore sustainable solutions for our community.

Emmy award-winning film depicts one of the world’s most pressing environmental issues. The Story of Plastic is a searing exposé revealing the ugly truth behind plastic pollution and the false solution of plastic recycling. Different from every other plastic documentary you’ve seen, it presents a cohesive timeline of how we got to our current global plastic pollution crisis and how the oil and gas industry has successfully manipulated the narrative around it.

Panel discussion following the film, featuring Ashia Agarwal, Dr. Linda Cook, Tanya Nikam, Jonathon Ward.

This event is aimed at creating change at a city-wide and political level to become more environmentally-conscious. Targeted to an audience of key city decision-makers, the event hopes to launch and/or build support for two major projects: Cafeteria Plastic Reduction Project and Trash Pickup Tracking App.

This event is more than a film screening; it is a shared commitment to fostering a sustainable future for Coppell.

In partnership with:

The Coppell Eco Club is helping host the event. The Coppell Eco club strives to create a more sustainable Earth for the next generation. We will organize and undertake projects to protect the environment both locally and globally, while informing the masses of the threats Earth faces and how to stop them. Believing strongly in the Native American proverb, “We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children,” we want to pave a path into the future to ensure every individual, animal, and plant can live on a healthier and cleaner Earth.

The Dallas Sierra Club is proud to support and assist all our communities and to help them to protect their individualism while also creating an environment free of industrial pollution, impure air, and contaminated soil. We also believe that the best way to honor the environment is to get out in it! The Dallas Sierra Club does this by hosting local and out of town hikes, explorations of wild spaces, and urban outreach to engage those who may not have equal opportunities to surround themselves with green.
