SUMMARY:The Devil We Know
DESCRIPTION:Dupont created Teflon in the 40's. It has known its Teflon chem
ical causes damage to lab animals since 1961\; yet it continued to pump it
s toxic chemical into the air and the water supply of Parkersburg\, West V
irginia.  When the community saw its livestock dying from drinking the wa
ter and the people surrounding them become sick from the toxins\, they fil
ed a class action lawsuit against the corporation.\n\nWhile this film cent
ers around a community in West Virginia\, the problem is global.  These h
armful chemicals can be found on our nonstick pans\, our wax-lined fast fo
od containers\, and often\, our drinking water.  It is now found in the b
lood of 99% of humans\, including newborns. Join us to learn how the citiz
ens of Parkersburg fought back against a corporation that put profit over
people.\n\nWe will hold a group discussion following the film led by Chris
tina Wells\, Campaign Organizer for Toxic-Free Future.\n\nThis film is fre
e to the public. Donations are greatly appreciated to help cover the costs
 .
