SUMMARY:The Death of My Two Fathers
DESCRIPTION:Tacoma Meaningful Movies is pleased to co-present an in person
screening of The Death of My Two Fathers with The Grand Cinema during the
Tacoma Film Festival.\n\nWhen William Guy was facing a terminal illness in
his early 50s\, he decided to dictate his life story to tape as a legacy
for his children to know him better. It's taken 20 years for his son Sol t
o be able to press play and revisit his father's journey as a Black man fr
om Kansas City\, Missouri\, to Vancouver Island. Sol retraces his own root
s between Canada and the US\, while reconnecting with his four distant sib
lings and extended family members. Framed as a heartfelt letter to his tee
 nage children\, Sol composes a multi-generational contemplation on race\,
death\, love and the importance of family. Coming to terms with his own hi
 story\, he recognizes that "what we don't heal\, what we don't confront\,
we pass on."\nJoin us for a post-screening discussion with Director Sol Gu
 y. \nSee the Tacoma Film Festival program here\, https://www.tacomafilmfes
