SUMMARY:The Call We Carry
DESCRIPTION:Join Meaningful Movies Tacoma &amp\; Gig Harbor for a free scre
ening and community discussion! We gratefully accept donations to help off
set the costs of presenting the films we screen and the conversations we c
oordinate. Register HERE\nThe Call We Carry follows the journeys of 4 Taco
ma Firefighters as they share their stories of pain\, sacrifice\, and resi
liency in the midst of an unprecedented call volume increase. The film pro
vides an intimate glimpse into the lives of those who put it all on the li
ne every day\, in an effort to prove once and for all that NO ONE FIGHTS A
 LONE.\nIn a profession that few ever see\, and even fewer understand\, a c
risis is brewing among today’s first responders. Over 37% meet clinical
diagnosis for PTSD\, and most go untreated and even unrecognized. In a cul
ture where showing vulnerability means showing weakness\, this ground-brea
king documentary attempts to break down these barriers and smash the stigm
a of mental health in the fire service.\n\nTHE EVENT\n\nFree film screenin
g followed by an impactful community panel discussion. Hear from filmmaker
 s\, film participants\, local first responders\, and health professionals\
, as we discuss the conversation that's not being had enough and work to i
lluminate a crisis in order to stop the stigma and support change.\nTHE SP
EAKERS\nCasey Novak - Battalion Chief and the leader of Tacoma Fire’s Pe
er Support Team. Casey has served on the Tacoma Fire Department for 20 yea
rs.\nRuss Peters - Lead Chaplain and Crisis/Trauma Interventionist for the
Tacoma Fire Department.\nKristin Elmer - Captain of Station 1 in Downtown
Tacoma and has served with TFD for over 16 years.\n
