SITTING STILL is a portrait of this irreverent urban warrior and his profoundly social vision.
It’s a story of an artist and the concerns that defined his life’s work: urbanization, a lost
connection to nature, economic marginalization, and the grave necessity of humanity in design.
Laurie Olin is a distinguished artist, scholar, author, and one of the most renowned and significant
landscape architects practicing in the world today. His iconic designs include the
Washington Monument Grounds, Bryant Park and the Getty Center. His recent projects
include the award-winning Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia and Apple Park in Cupertino.
Laurie is Emeritus Professor of Landscape Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania
and former chair of the Department of Landscape Architecture at Harvard University. He is
a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the American Society of Landscape
Architects, and recipient of the 2012 National Medal of Arts from President Obama.
MMP Climate Reality LV is partnering with Nevada Chapter ASLA.
The film will be shown at the Paul B. Sogg Architecture Building.
