80% of the world’s population lives under light-polluted skies. What do we lose when we lose sight of the stars? Excessive and improper lighting robs us of our night skies, disrupts our sleep patterns, and endangers nocturnal habitats. “Saving the Dark” explores the need to preserve night skies and ways to combat light pollution. Following the film, Matt Jordon of the International Dark-Sky Association will lead a discussion on the increasing encroachment of light pollution on the beautiful, natural night sky we still enjoy in some areas on the Olympic Peninsula. Come learn more about this important issue and gain the knowledge, tools, and resources you need to help preserve our dark skies and bring back the night.
