SUMMARY:Poverty\, Inc.
DESCRIPTION:Fighting poverty is big business. But who profits the most?\n\n
“I see multiple colonial governors\,” says Ghanaian software entrepren
eur Herman Chinery-Hesse of the international development establishment.
“We are held captive by the donor community.”\n\nThe West has made its
elf the protagonist of development\, giving rise to a multibillion dollar
poverty industry. From TOMs Shoes to international adoptions\, from solar
panels to U.S. food aid\, the film challenges each of us to ask the tough
question: Could I be part of the problem?\n\nScreening is free\, but donat
ions are gladly accepted to help cover costs.
