SUMMARY:Dark Money - Community Discussion with Guest Cindy Black
DESCRIPTION:"Dark Money" examines one of the greatest threats to American d
emocracy: the influence of untraceable corporate money on our elections an
d elected officials. The film takes viewers to Montana\, a frontline in th
e fight to preserve fair elections nationwide\, to follow a local journali
st working to expose the real-life impacts of the U.S. Supreme Court's Cit
izens United decision in which the Supreme Court ruled that "political spe
nding is a form of protected speech under the First Amendment\, and the go
vernment may not keep corporations or unions from spending money to suppor
t or denounce individual candidates in elections. While corporations or un
ions may not give money directly to campaigns\, they may seek to persuade
the voting public through other means\, including ads\, especially where t
