SUMMARY:Activized: It's the American Thing to Do
DESCRIPTION:Please join Meaningful Movies: Sustainable Ballard as we view a
nd discuss "Activized." We'll be joined by director and producer Eric Sta
nge to talk about his experiences collecting the activists’ stories and
making the film.\nProceeds of this event will be donated to The Movement
 for Black Lives.\n\nREGISTER HERE\n“Activized” is a 36 minute document
ary that profiles a handful of ordinary Americans who — for the first ti
me in their lives — have left their comfort zones and become involved in
gun violence prevention\, voting rights and immigrants’ rights.\nInterw
eaving their personal stories against the backdrop of the causes they figh
 t for\, we experience their motivations\, successes and failures\, their s
acrifices\, and victories. Above all\, we celebrate these inspiring\, cour
ageous citizens for embracing one of the most basic of American traditions
  – dissent.\nThe half dozen characters in this film are everyday people\
, not politicians or celebrities. Some are young – one is 17 – others
are middle-aged. They come from various backgrounds and regions. By interw
eaving their personal stories against the backdrop of their chosen causes
 – gun violence prevention\, immigration rights\, voting rights – this
film explores the motivations\, successes and failures\, sacrifices\, and
most of all the contributions of this small sample of Americans who are pr
acticing what has been labeled “constructive patriotism.”\nMore about
the film at: https://www.activizedfilm.org\nREGISTER HERE\nUpon registeri
ng\, and again on June 22nd\, you will receive a confirmation email contai
ning a viewing and discussion link.\nMeaningful Movies Project is partneri
ng with Sky Pond Productions and the film "Activized."
