Meaningful Movies PDX at First Presbyterian Church, Portland, is happy to invite you to an in-person screening of FROM HERE. This film interweaves the stories of Tania, Miman, Sonny and Akim – children of immigrant families raised in New York and Berlin, as they move from their 20’s into their 30’s, facing major turning points: fighting for citizenship, creating a family, surviving violence, and finding creative expression. Beautifully shot over the course of ten years, the film captures their struggle to define belonging for themselves in societies increasingly hostile to their existence.

Following the film, there will be a discussion with members of Moreland Presbyterian Church, led by Becky Mowe, about how their congregation helped two Afghan families settle in Portland after the chaotic collapse of the government in their home country in 2021.

First Presbyterian Church is located at the corner of SW 12th Ave and Alder Street in downtown Portland.  Parking is free in our on-site garage.  Enter the garage off SW 12th Avenue.

1200 SW Alder St,

Portland, Oregon, 97205.

Bless you for doing this! Sharing the stories of all members of the human family is a beautiful and powerful way to dismantle the fear and hate being stoked by too many.
