SUMMARY:From Here
DESCRIPTION:Meaningful Movies Tacoma is excited to collaborate with Tacoma
Community House for an encore screening of "From Here".\n\nJoin us for fre
 e popcorn and a post-film discussion.\n\nAbout the Film: \n\nFROM HERE is
a hopeful story of Tania\, Sonny\, Miman\, and Akim - artists and activis
ts based in Berlin and New York. Their lives and futures hang in the balan
ce of immigration and integration debates. As the US and Germany grapple w
ith racism\, nationalism\, and a fight over their national identities\, ou
r protagonists move from their 20s into their 30s and face major turning p
oints in their lives: fighting for citizenship\, starting families\, and f
inding room for creative expression. Spanning a decade in two of the world
’s largest centers of immigration\, this sensitive and nuanced documenta
ry captures their journeys.  They redefine what it means to “belong”
in societies that are increasingly hostile to their existence. FROM HERE o
ffers four distinct visions of resistance and resilience–showing not onl
y their struggle\, but enormous power. \n\nRSVP Here
