SUMMARY:CANCELLED - Dolores
DESCRIPTION:Due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19\, this event is CA
NCELLED. We'll try to reschedule it for a later date.\nDolores Huerta is a
mong the most important\, yet least known\, activists in American history.
An equal partner in co-founding the first farm workers unions with Cesar
Chavez\, her enormous contributions have gone largely unrecognized. Dolore
s tirelessly led the fight for racial and labor justice alongside Chavez\,
becoming one of the most defiant feminists of the twentieth century—and
she continues the fight to this day. With intimate and unprecedented acce
ss to this intensely private mother to eleven\, the film reveals the raw\,
personal stakes involved in committing one’s life to social change. As
she wrestles with raising 11 children\, three marriages\, and is nearly be
aten to death by a San Francisco tactical police squad\, Dolores emerges w
ith a vision that connects her new found feminism with racial and class ju
stice.\n\nDoors open at 6:30 for light refreshments and socializing. Film
starts at 7:00\, with a group discussion following the movie.
