Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret is a documentary film exploring the impact of animal agriculture on the environment. Although the scientific community has formed a consensus that global warming is primarily caused by humans burning fossil fuels, according to a report by the much respected Union of Concerned Scientists, livestock currently contribute 15% of the global greenhouse gas emissions (lower than the value estimated in the film). The issue of under-reporting the impact of animal agriculture on global warming, which gives the film its title, has also been questioned since the film’s release. Still the significant contribution to green-house gases of animal farming is worth knowing about and, perhaps, responding to as individual consumers. Come see this informative and sometimes humorous film as it describes the environmental impact that large-scale factory farming has on our planet.
