Cowspiracy: The Sustainability SecretΒ is a documentary film exploring the impact ofΒ animal agricultureΒ on the environment. Although the scientific community hasΒ formed a consensus thatΒ global warmingΒ is primarily caused by humans burning fossil fuels, according to a report by the much respected Union of Concerned Scientists, livestock currently contribute 15% of the global greenhouse gas emissions (lower than the value estimated in the film). The issue of under-reporting the impact of animal agriculture on global warming, which gives the film its title, has also been questioned since the film’s release. Still the significant contribution to green-house gases of animal farming is worth knowing about and, perhaps, responding to as individual consumers. Come see this informative and sometimes humorous film as it describes the environmental impact that large-scale factory farming has on our planet.
