SUMMARY:Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret
DESCRIPTION:In a year when the burning of the Amazon rainforest has capture
d the world's attention\, the message of "Cowspiracy: The Sustainability S
ecret" is especially urgent. The movie follows filmmaker Kip Andersen as h
e uncovers what he contends is the most destructive industry facing the pl
anet today -- animal agriculture -- and investigates why the world’s lea
ding environmental organizations are afraid to talk about it.\n\nAnimal ag
riculture is the leading cause of deforestation\, water consumption and po
llution\, is responsible for a large share of greenhouse gases\, and is a
primary driver of rainforest destruction\, species extinction\, habitat lo
ss\, topsoil erosion\, ocean “dead zones\,” and virtually every other
environmental ill. Yet it goes on\, almost entirely unchallenged.\n\nJulie
Mihalisin\, plant-based lifestyle advocate and founder of The New Health
Club\, will join our post-film discussion. Doors open at 6 p.m. for light
refreshment and conversation\; movie starts at 6:30 p.m.\n\nDon't miss any
of the films in our Fall three-part Faith &amp\; Ecology series\, "Strivi
ng for Climate Justice."  On Monday Oct. 7 we'll show "Paris to Pittsburg
h" and on Monday Oct. 21\, "The Reluctant Radical" at the same location an
 d time.
