Consumer capitalism.  For many decades it has dominated our economy, politics, and culture.  Media scholar Justin Lewis argues that changing this domination will require changing our culture.  He argues that our media limit critical thinking and keep us bound to a way of life that mandates consume, consume, consume.   Change our culture and transform our media and communications systems?  Is that even possible?

This is a short film, so there will probably also be a “short subject” on the topic as well, TBD.

Community discussion after the films, as usual.

Release Year: 2014

Running Time: 42 min

Director: Sut Jhally
