SUMMARY:Andre is an Idiot
DESCRIPTION:Join Meaningful Movies Ballard for a virtual screening of Andr
 é Is an Idiot\, a funny\, candid\, and unexpectedly moving documentary ab
out life\, death\, and what really matters.\nAfter ignoring his doctor’s
advice to get a colonoscopy\, André is diagnosed with Stage IV colorecta
l cancer. Rather than shy away from what comes next\, he turns the camera
on himself\, documenting his experience with humor\, honesty\, and a refre
shing lack of sentimentality. The result is a deeply personal film about f
acing mortality while continuing to find absurdity\, connection\, and joy
in everyday life.\nFollowing the film\, we’ll be joined for a conversati
on with Anita Isler\, Executive Director of Colon Cancer Stars and a Stage
IV colon cancer survivor. Colon Cancer Stars’ mission is to save lives
by educating people about the importance of colorectal cancer screening.\n
Registration is required for the film. Register here.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nSustai
nable Ballard and Center for Spiritual Living Ballard partner with the Mea
ningful Movies Project to present documentaries in our neighborhood.\n\nTo
stay informed about future screenings\, you can subscribe to our newslett
er (sent out about once every three weeks).  We’d love to hear what you
want to see!  What topics do you want to explore?  Do you have a specif
ic movie to recommend?  To provide input\, or if you are interested in vo
lunteering with Meaningful Movies Ballard\, please e-mail info@sustainable
ballard.org\n\nThe Meaningful Movies Project is a non-profit organization
that assists neighborhoods\, groups and individuals organize\, educate and
advocate using the power of  documentary film and relevant conversation
to build positive and meaningful community and a more just and peaceful wo
rld.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nEvents are all-volunteer organized and run. They are al
ways open to the public at no cost\, and rely on donations from attendees
to remain sustainable. The events are “owned” by the community.
