Meaningful Movies is proud to collaborate with Interfaith Works, to present β€œAmerican Muslim.” Please, join us for the panel discussion on Wednesday, August 18th and hear from American Muslims from across the region as they share their experiences and their reaction to the film.

Film Description: On January 27, 2017, less than a week after taking office, Donald Trump signed an executive order banning people from seven predominately Muslim countries from entering the United States. The action was a strike against religious freedom unprecedented in this country’s history. Protesters rushed to airports where passengers were being detained while legal proceedings against the ban began.

For the next year and a half Muslim Americans and their many allies protested a string of executive orders declaring a travel ban. With a series of setbacks in the courts, the Administration continued to fine-tune the edicts in attempt to pass legal scrutiny. As the lives of American Muslims were upended and family members remained separated by borders, the Muslim ban slowly made its way to the Supreme Court. The trajectory of the ban provides the film’s backbone.

Interfaith Works is partnering with regional interfaith organizations and Muslim faith communities to sponsor a free viewing window of the documentary, β€œAmerican Muslim,” which is an award-winning documentary by New York-based film-maker, Adam Zucker, about five Muslim Americans living in New York during the infamous β€œMuslim Ban” under President Trump.

There will be a screening window in which to watch the film for FREE between August 15-17, 2021.

On August 18th at 7:00 p.m. there will be an online panel with American Muslims from those regional faith communities discussing their reaction to the film and life as a Muslim in our part of the world.
