SUMMARY:9 to 5: The Story of a Movement - Film & Community Conversation
DESCRIPTION:When Dolly Parton sang “9 to 5\,” she was doing more than j
ust shining a light on the professional fate of American women. Parton was
singing the autobiographical tale of a movement that started with 9to5\,
a group of Boston secretaries in the early 1970s. Their goals were simple
—better pay\, more advancement opportunities and an end to sexual harass
ment—but their unconventional approach attracted the press and shamed th
eir bosses into change. Featuring interviews with 9to5’s founders\, as w
ell as actor and activist Jane Fonda\, "9to5: The Story of a Movement" is
the previously untold story of the fight that inspired a hit and changed t
he American workplace.\n\nPlease join Mt Baker Meaningful Movies for an on
line screening of the film at 6PM\, followed by a Zoom webinar with labor
leaders at 7:30PM and then a community conversation at 8PM. The community
conversation will provide opportunities for small group discussion in brea
 kout rooms.\n\nRegister here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/9to5-screening-

y of a Movement" will premiere on PBS  on Feb 1\, 2021.\n\n#IndependentL
