For those of you who attended the DamNation event hosted by Port Townsend, Mt Baker and West Seattle Meaningful Movies and supported by Patagonia, here is information about ways to take action from the Save Our Wild Salmon Coalition:
First, please join Save Our wild Salmon Coalition—and other salmon, orca, clean energy and justice advocates—to demonstrate strong public support for restoration of a free-flowing lower Snake River and its endangered salmon and steelhead.
There are two important upcoming opportunities to send a message to the Biden Administration.
First, the U.S. Government will hold a virtual listening session on the lower Snake River salmon & dams – Thursday, May 25th, from 10:00am to 1:00pm PT. Register HERE to (virtually) attend the Snake River Listening Session and include “Stop Salmon Extinction” as your affiliation to show where you stand!
Second, President Biden’s Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) is seeking public comments to address salmon and steelhead recovery in the Columbia and Snake Rivers. Stay tuned for more detailed information and guidance to submit a public comment to the Biden Administration.
The bottom line: it’s decision time for the Biden Administration. If they’re to make good on their commitment to “development of a durable long-term strategy to restore salmon and other native fish populations to healthy and abundant levels,” they need to take concrete steps in that direction no later than this summer.
Please join us on May 25th at the virtual listening session as a first step.
If you have any questions about attending the Snake River Listening Session please contact Marc Sullivan at sullivanmarc@hotmail.com or Joseph Bogaard at joseph@wildsalmon.org.
Thank you, as always, for your support and advocacy.
Sincerely, Joseph Bogaard and the SOS team Save Our wild Salmon Coalition
